Linda Edna Cardellini was born in Redwood City, California, to Lorraine (Hernan) and Wayne David Cardellini, a businessman. Linda is Italian (from her paternal grandpa), Irish (from her mother), German, English as well as Scottish heritage. She received her training at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama and began her acting career in the British television show Just William (2010). Cinderella (2015) is her first film following the time she was the lead actress in the role of Lady Rose MacClare (2012-2015) in Downton Abbey which was a period drama. James went on portraying the role of Countess Natasha Rostova for the television adaptation War & Peace (2016). Also, he appeared in Baby Driver (2017) and in period dramas Darkest Hour (2017) and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (18) and The Dig (2021), as well as musicals Mamma Mia! and Here We Go Again (2018) and Yesterday (2019). Her character was nominated to win a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award in 2022 to play Pamela Anderson, the star of Pam & Tommy.
